Apr. 26, 2016 (Mimesis Law) — Welcome to Tuesday, people. Here’s what we’re watching:

  • Fort Pierce, FL, are demanding more information about the police shooting of Demarcus Semer on Saturday night. Witnesses state that Semer exited his vehicle with his hands in the air.
  • Cleveland will pay $6 million to settle the lawsuit brought by the family of Tamir Rice who was shot and killed by police in 2014. Officer Timothy Loehmann shot 12-year old Rice after mistaking a toy gun he was playing with for a real firearm.
  • Witnesses to the shooting of Amilcar Perez-Lopez by San Francisco police stated that he was shot in the back as he ran away from the plainclothes officers. Police claim that Perez-Lopez, a Guatemalan immigrant, was shot after he allegedly lunged at them with a knife in February 2015. His autopsy, moreover, shows that he was shot several times in the back.
  • A judge has allowed a lawsuit against Philadelphia to proceed over the police shooting death of Darren Tate-Brown. Tate-Brown was shot while allegedly resisting arrest at a traffic stop in 2014. The officers involved have previously been cleared by the district attorney of any wrongdoing.
